Dealing with Spills

Under the Environment Agency Pollution Prevention Guidelines where oil or fuel is stored on Industrial, Commercial and School Grounds, it is recommended that the risks of a spillage are considered and a contingency plan prepared.

It is advisable to keep a stock of absorbent materials and commercially available booms on site to deal with spillages.

If a spill should occur, immediate action should be taken to contain the oil to prevent it from entering any drains or watercourses.
